A record pool

A Record Pools are used to balance traffic across multiple IPv4 addresses. Traffic can be distributed based on weight or the performance of the systems in the pool. Weighted distribution is also called Round Robin (when the weights are even) and Weighted Round Robin (when they are not).

To learn more about load balancing, use cases, and video tutorials go here

1. Select Managed DNS in the sidebar menu, and then choose A Record Pools from the drop-down.

2. Click the Add New Pool button.

3. On this screen, you will add the information for your pool. Follow the steps below:

A) Name: Give your pool configuration an identifiable name.
B) Num Return: enter the number of IP’s you want to have returned in the pool.
C) Min Available: enter the minimum number of IP’s that must be available in the pool.
D) IP: Designate the IP addresses you want in the pool.
E) Weight: You can give each of the IPs in a pool a different weight, depending on if you want to send more or less traffic to each one. A higher weight will send more traffic to that IP. See the Weighted Round Robin tutorial to learn more.
F) Policy: Most use cases will be using a Sonar check but other options are available as well.
G) Sonar Check: If you have a check in Constellix Sonar already created, you can select it here. If you select a check, then the pool will only serve traffic to that IP if it is up, according to Sonar.
H) Add Another Host: Additional IP’s can also be added to load balance traffic, just click the Add Another IP button.
I) Save: When you are done, click
